Every road leads to a…. Castle
The path was long and it was beautiful, the rolling hills, clusters of trees and shrubs, the city slowly creeping further away and yet as you climbed upwards one had a breath taking view of the village below as it got further in the distance. Trees, rolling hills of green (or white depending upon the time of year), veiled pathways and trails all around and the air grew more brisk the further north one moved.
Make no mistake, you have made it this far because you were allowed to make it this far, not because of your talents, your lineage, or because you are special. As this place does not seem to care who you are related to, who your parents were, what you can do, or how many titles you hold. This truly seemed to be somewhere that welcomed all with open arms, from the lowest of bonegnawers to the unknown.
For a fleeting moment there was a faint resistance that was likely only a passing thought rather than a definitive that anything was there. Something akin to a ‘web’ of stickiness though nothing was seen and there appears to be nothing to hinder one from moving forward. Though with each step taken an overwhelming peace seemed to flutter about and settle in, while at the same time there might be a sense of just how little you were. How insignificant one could be while standing before this massive looming castle that seemed to go as far as the eyes could see and yet one could nearly bet with a certainty that it went even further than that.
Towers to the left, the right, behind, too many different wings to count or possibly be seen from where one was standing, as well as scrawling courtyards and massive gardens… truly there was no end and yet where was the beginning?
Flanked to either side by lavish gardens and well manicured lawns it was as picture perfect like a storybook. Almost as if the wyrm could not, dared not, and would never touch this place. The living breathing earth seeming to soothe any worries or perhaps it was the aura of someone? It seemed to stretch the length of the castle, all around ever since stepping within the unknown ‘bubble’ that surrounded the area.
A massive set of stone steps beckoned one forth and up towards the impressively large set of double doors that held a crest upon it of a bear flanked on either side by a wolf and the other of a feline.
Statues around and atop of the castle looking distinctly gryphon like… but was that a movement? Had the eyes shifted? Wasn’t one just there on that ledge that now was empty? It could be the light playing with ones vision, or the darkness of the night that was oddly peaceful, but one thing was absolute… this place, this town, this ‘home’ was distinctly different than any other sept one had ever traveled too, seen, or stayed at.
